Shirley Harford is the owner and creator of Hippidippies.
A self-taught artist and jewellery maker she and her family relocated to the glorious South West coast of Scotland in 2006.
Having spent much of her life in big cities the change of lifestyle was an enormous challenge, but gave Shirley the opportunity to return to her love of crafting and art.
Living near to rolling hills, rocky shores and deep forests has inspired Shirley to create an abstract style of art, working in a variety of mediums including acrylic paints, alcohol inks and encaustic wax.
Her " Wee Galloway Art " miniature paintings are a popular seller with customers in the gallery, each little painting is produced on a 9 cm x 7 cm canvas and comes with it's own easel for display. Shirley says "Every single miniature is a one off. I don't make prints of these little works of art so you can be sure you are buying something completely unique."
Shirley's passion for beading stems from her teenage years. Growing up in the late 60's and 70's, when no outfit was complete without strings and strings of tiny seed beads wrapped around ones wrist and neck, embedded a passion for the beads which has endured to the present day.
Shirley now concentrates on creating intricately hand stitched and woven items of jewellery using her favourite seed and Czech glass beads.
Shirley has undertaken commission work creating bespoke items for weddings and special events.
